Southern Materials Company, a leading supplier in the construction and remodeling industry, is looking for a dynamic and experienced Showroom Design Consultant to join our team in Springfield, Missouri. Position Summary
As a Showroom Design Consultant, you will be the bridge between our customers’ vision and their dream spaces. Your role will involve assisting customers with inquiries about plumbing materials, cabinetry, tile, flooring, and lighting for both kitchen and bathroom design and remodeling projects. Utilizing Sketchup and 2020 design software, you will render projects to help customers envision their future spaces with the materials selected from our showroom. This role also requires conducting in-home consultations with homeowners and partner contractors to quote and facilitate remodel projects, ensuring a seamless transition from design through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service in the showroom, assisting with questions regarding our product range.
- Use Sketchup and 2020 design software to create visual representations of design projects.
- Conduct in-home consultations to understand customer needs and provide accurate quotes.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors to ensure project requirements are met.
- Manage projects from initial design concept through to construction completion.
- Maintain up-to-date tracking and order processing to ensure timely project completion.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, employees, and vendors through quality communication.
What We Offer
- Salary Range: $45K-$55K plus commissions, based on experience.

- Generous time off policy: 2 weeks vacation from start date, plus 3 personal days.
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm with an hour for lunch. Rotating Saturdays from 9am-1pm.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in interior design, architecture, or a related field, with a strong portfolio showcasing your skills.
- Proficiency in Sketchup and 2020 design software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, team members, and vendors.
- Strong project management abilities, with a track record of successfully managing projects from design to completion.
- A passion for design and staying current with industry trends and materials.
